CamelBak Water Bottle Tops Nalgene.

CamelBak Water BottleI have had a couple of the classic Nalgene bottles for the last 5 years, and I have had only one complaint. It is a pain in the ass to drive and drink out of the standard Nalgene bottle.

If you hit a bump while drinking, you are screwed. I was picking up a new bed roll for a camping trip this weekend and decided to pick up one of the smaller mouthed Nalgene bottles. I had seen the OTG Nalgenes in Bicycling Magazine a few times and thought I would check them out. After dissecting the OTG, I was pretty disappointed. The pictures in the magazines made it look revolutionary, but it was really just a Nalgene with a funky cover. Then, I ran into the CamelBak Water Bottle, and thought it might not be a bad idea to try something new.

The CamelBak Water Bottle stores a little over 24oz, or 750ml, and comes in a wide variety of colors. It has the sweet CamelBak valve that you drink out of, and it stops you from spilling when it isn’t in use. It can also be tucked away so it isn’t sticking out. Its a load easier to drink while driving, or even running, and is just as durable as the Nalgene.

I would definitely pick one of these up if you are in need of a new water bottle, or even just for the cool factor. Here are some specs:

  • Durable Lexan® polycarbonate construction now benefits from easy-to-use, no-drip bite valve system; simply flip up the valve, bite and drink
  • Wide-mouth bottle fills easily and holds 25 fl. oz.; dishwasher safe in the top rack
  • Standard cap size fits most wide-mouth bottles; bottle fits many water filters
  • Easily attached to a pack or belt using a small, lightweight carabiner; handles warm liquids as easily as cold
  • Lists approximate volumes in ounces and milliliters

You can pick one up at REI for $12.00.
