Product Spotlight: Giro Pneumo Helmet

giro pneumo helmetI think we can all agree that our brain is the most important part of cycling. It tells us which direction to go. It keeps us balanced while we ride. It lets us know when to speed up and slow down. Selecting the right helmet is therefore the most important decision you can make in order to keep you riding (it’s nice not getting a cracked skull).

There are some helmets that are better than others. The Giro helmets are known to be great helmets, and the Pneumo is not an exception.

It uses Giro’s In-mold system to soften the blow when we fall. This is what Giro has to say about their absorption system:

In-mold technology creates a helmet with a true exo-skeleton by fusing the EPS liner with the microshell. This process reinforces the vents and results in a lighter more durable helmet with sexy, high-performance vents tuned for maximum cooling.

Wow, that was a lot of marketing speak. The Giro Pneumo also features the giro Roll Cage technology, and the Roc Loc 4 fit system.

The helmet is quite light at 9 oz. or 256 g.

The vents are what really stand out on this. The air circulation is simply amazing. There are nineteen vents that move the air up and over your head like you see in videos demonstrating wind tunnels (oddly enough they call this their Wind Tunnel technology).

The Giro Pneumo comes in 5 colors: Carbon, Blue/White, White, Red/Blue, Pink Flames. The picture above is the Red/Blue Pneumo.

I want this helmet so bad….

I’m stuck with a cheap one right now. I keep putting my cash on my bike gear, and not my attire. :)
