Pearl Izumi Gel Vent ProWhen I just got into cycling, gloves were always that piece of cycling equipment that I told myself I didn’t need, and could live without. As my rides went from 10 to 20 to 50 miles at a time, I started to realize how important cycling gloves really are. Without them you end up with sore hands, and raw skin. For the most part, cycling gloves are a relatively cheap investment that pay huge dividends. The Pearl Izumi Gel-Vent Pro Gloves are about the most you would ever pay for a pair of cycling gloves. You can buy them from Pearl Izumi directly for about 40 bucks, but you can get them cheaper at your lbs. The Gel-Vent Pros are awesome gloves. The breathe really well, and even though I hate buying any cycling gear with the buzz word “gel” involved, the gel does provide a lot of comfort. Here are some tech specs:

•Direct Vent construction for superior ventilation
•Shock Absorbing 3D gel inserts & vented palm
•Fully Padded palm and fingers
•Moisture wicking Diamond Elite back fabric
•Soft microfleece wiping surface on thumb
•Easy slip-on design with quick-pull wrist tab
•Velcro Free Cuff

If you are looking for a new pair of gloves as a replacement to your old, snot-covered and torn gloves, or if you are just getting into the sport, I would check out the Gel-Vent Pros. The price is on the high side, so make sure to try on other gloves and decide if the price is worth it. The gloves should be pretty snug, but not to the point where they will cut off circulation.
