Alberto Contador may choose Astana

Astana Team LogoThe Tour de France champion, Alberto Contador, may end up switching to the Astana team.

“I’ve received various offers from important teams since Discovery Channel said it was leaving the sport, but I had to study each one carefully because in the world of cycling you can’t make many errors,” Contador said. “I didn’t receive any offers from Spain. I would have liked it but I can only hope for next time.”

Astana’s reputation does not have a clean slate, as they withdrew from the Tour de France, and weren’t even invited to the Spanish Vuelta due to numerous doping scandals.  Contador didn’t seem concerned with the reputation of Astana.

”It is clear that the new Astana has nothing to do with the old team,” the 24-year-old Contador said.

I guess only time will tell if Contador ends up joining Astana.  Well, either way, I’m sure he’ll find a team shortly.
