Di Luca banned three months

The Giro d’Italia winner, Danilo Di Luca was banned for three months on Tuesday for his connection with Italian doctor Carlo Santuccione. Santuccione was given a five-year ban for providing controlled substances to cyclists.

Di Luca, who has always denied doping, says that Santuccione was his family doctor since he was eight.

If that’s really the case, it could be that he just got the raw end of a deal, and maybe he really wasn’t doping…except this looks a bit fishy:

CONI also found hormone levels in Di Luca’s system that normally correspond to a child in a surprise test taken during his Giro win in June, although the committee said that case was a separate issue and did not enter into Tuesday’s decision.

Well, in any case, a three month ban is pretty short compared to Landis, and others recently.
