Product Spotlight: Cy-fi Wireless iPod Speaker System

11 October 2007 By Tyler Cooper No Comments 4 Views

Ci-FiMyCyFi, Inc. has introduced the Cy-fi, a wireless bicycle speaker with iPod compatibility. The Cy-fi speaker mounts to the bike frame, and you simply keep the iPod in a jacket pocket or armband. The Cy-fi features wireless audio with “Kleer technology,” track, volume and playlist controls on the speaker, letting the rider leave the iPod in a pocket, a 30-pin wireless transmitter for iPod, the ability to broadcast music to up to four Cy-fi systems at once, and a speaker weight of under 3 ounces.

This system may actually be a great way to safely listen to music while cycling. We had previously talked about using the Slipstreamz system to keep wind noise to a minimum, but there is still the problem of not being able to hear traffic, or the occasional “On your left!” The ability to go on a group ride and share music with any of your fellow riders who have the system is a pretty cool idea as well.

The Cy-fi will be available in early 2008 and will sell for $150.
