(AFP/William West)The BT Blade and the BT Stealth are not your average bikes. You’ll likely never find them at a bike shop (but the technology better trickle down to us!). The carbon fiber is the same grade as found on the Space Shuttle.

It weighs a minuscule 6.8kg (15 pounds), and was designed from the ground up with its aerodynamic properties in mind. The wheels alone cost $7500!

The wheels, which are 19 millimetres wide, are worth around $7500. The tyres are sewn into a material casing and then glued into the rims to maximise the amount of air that can be pumped into them. The 6.8-kilogram weight is the lightest permitted by cycling’s international governing body.

The BT Stealth is the bike for the sprinters, and the BT Blade will be used for track endurance races. They were manufactured by Bike Technologies located in Melbourne, Australia.
