The French cycling federation (FFC) has been suspended for their support of the organizers of the Paris-Nice race being held in March. They had been warned by the International Cycling Union prior to the start of the race, and went ahead with the support anyways. They were called “disloyal” by the UCI.
French cyclists will still be able compete in the Beijing Olympics, as the year long suspension was only aimed at the French federation from organizing races.
The FFC supports Amaury Sports Organization, which also organizes the Tour de France. The organization has been in an ongoing conflict with the UCI, which accuses it of trying to set up a rival organization.
