Designer bicycle helmets from Yakkay

Yakkay HelmetYakkay HelmetIt’s a unique approach to a bike helmet; take the shell, and put a custom cover (big hat) over it.  The idea is that it won’t look like you’re wearing a giant foam shell on your noggin’.  Instead, it will look like you’re wearing a giant hat.

Yakkay, a Danish company, has devised this system.  They take a solid looking helmet, with stylish stainless steel buckles, and offer a variety of hat-like covers to put over it.  They currently offer four different covers (maybe a sombrero would be a good option…).

The helmets come in two sizes, medium and large, and include a few additional adjustments using foam inserts.

The helmet isn’t cheap at $120, and you’ll need to order it from a bike shop in Denmark or Berlin

If this gets more helmet self-conscious people to wear the brain-saving headgear, I’m all for it.
