Interstate bike route system in development

Adventure Cycling is at it again, and in a very good way.  They are working directly with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) to help in the planning of an official interstate bike system.  The AASHTO Task Force was charged with developing a national corridor-level plan and designation system that transportation agencies can utilize for the development of bicycle routes.

Cool Tools, one of my favorite blogs, has a nice little feature on Adventure Cycling. It is an organization that organizes cross country cycling adventures using various routes. They give you all the information that you could possibly need, like how much to pack, where to sleep, where to get supplies/fix your bike, and where to ride.
